The price is $2,500 but we will seriously consider all offers. Please view the pictures and if you'd like more "custom photos" or have any questions, please let me know via email message to shaddox@alltel.net It is a wonderful antique & rare monstor of a safe, made by Cary Safe Co., Buffalo, NY, for Lynn-Welch Mercantile Co. It's in the back room of one of our vacant retail units in downtown Harrison, Arkansas. The brick building, 10,000 sq ft on two stories, is also for sale for $330,000 (Broker Owned). We acquired both in 1996 from the Gladys Sims Trust. Mrs. Sims owned & managed Crest Variety (a TOYLAND variety fun store) in Harrison for many, many years. We suspect that she & her husband acquired the safe at the time she bought the building way back in the 1920s. Mr. Sims was a pharmacist but we don't know if he ever used this safe. We had a locksmith remove the tumblers (to prevent it from accidentally getting locked). The tumblers are inside the safe for the next owner. Buy the building and the safe can stay right where it is!!! Antique Safe / Bank Vault for sale $2,500.00 Origin: Cary Safe Co., Buffalo, New York It’s approximately 120 to 140 years old
Weight is unknown …estimated 2000 lbs (maybe more). Safe is 46 ¾ inches wide x 54 ½ inches high or 65” overall height with 7” steel wheels Exterior Doors are 6 inches thick & each door measures 20 inches x 48 inches Interior Doors open in center & each measure 17 ½ inches x 40 ¾ inches x ¼“ steel Interior is 54 ½” high with a small upper section for coins, gems, documents storage.
The vault is marked Cary Safe Co., Buffalo, NY on the front and also on the back It was personalized for Lynn-Welch Mercantile Co. & made, we believe, in the mid to late 1890s. The former owner thought it was made around 1867. We really don’t know how old it is. No luck in minimal research to locate information on Lynn-Mercantile Co.
A local locksmith removed the tumblers to prevent the safe from being accidentally locked when the facility was leased several years ago. At one time we had the combination to the lock but was lost many years ago.
